In the book of 2 Kings, chapter 9, we find a man named Jehu. He was an army commander in Israel. On command from the prophet Elisha, from the Word of the Lord God, a servant sought out Jehu, dumped oil on his head, and anointed him the king of Israel.
This puzzled Jehu, but he took to his new God-given command seriously. He immediately sought out the kings of Judah and Syria, and executed them both for their misdeeds.
